When you step into a newly built home, you probably don’t give much thought to the technology hidden behind the walls, beneath the floors and above the ceilings. For Giesbers InstallatieGroep, that’s all part of the job.

For over 50 years, Giesbers has been installing mechanical systems in homes and buildings, from heating and ventilation to plumbing. With more than 275 employees, the company works on dozens of new-build and renovation projects across much of the Netherlands every year.

What started as a family business has grown into a professional installation company and is now part of TBI. Despite its growth, Giesbers has maintained its direct communication and collaborative approach.

As an organisation that works on future-ready buildings every day, Giesbers also takes a critical look at its own ways of working. Eventually, traditional paper business cards became part of that discussion. After all, does carrying a stack of paper business cards still make sense in the way we build and maintain business relationships today?

"Modern relationship management calls for the business card of tomorrow. We found exactly that in Wizard Card. And it's much more sustainable too!"

Constantly Ordering New Business Cards

Paper business cards might seem like a small detail within an organisation. That changes when you’re responsible for managing them for dozens of employees.
At Giesbers, employees requested new business cards through an online system. To avoid placing separate print orders for each employee, requests were collected and combined into larger orders with the printer.
This meant waiting, keeping track of orders and repeatedly making sure the right cards reached the right employees.
There was also another practical problem: you actually need to have a paper business card with you when the opportunity arises. And a stack of cards kept in a jacket pocket or bag doesn’t always look particularly professional when it’s time to hand one over.
For Giesbers, it was clear that there had to be a better way.

“The combination of all the administrative hassle and the fact that we were ready to go digital was what made us decide to switch.”

Professional, but Above All Simple

While looking for a digital alternative, Giesbers discovered Wizard Card. One thing was particularly important: the new solution shouldn’t create more work. The business cards needed to match Giesbers’ corporate identity, be easy for employees to use and simple for the organisation to manage.

“Even on the website, everything looked professional and easy to use. Wizard Card is very easy to customise to match our branding, and it's simple for our employees to use. That's exactly what we were looking for.”

No More Phone Numbers or Job Titles on the Card

When designing their cards, Giesbers made a deliberate decision to keep the information printed on the physical cards to a minimum. No phone numbers that might change and no job titles that could become outdated after a promotion. Instead, that information is stored in each employee’s digital profile.

When something changes, there’s no need to produce a new NFC card. The details can simply be updated in the Card Manager. From that moment on, anyone opening the digital business card sees the latest information.

“If someone’s job title or phone number changes, for example, we can update it ourselves quite quickly. That’s exactly why we chose not to print phone numbers or job titles on the cards.”

For the communications department, this means far less administration. No collecting requests, no placing new orders and no unused stock when employee details change.

Your Business Card Always at Hand

Alongside the physical Wizard Card, Giesbers actively uses the Wallet integration. This allows employees to easily add their digital business cards to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

The main benefit is convenience: the business card sits alongside the other passes on their phone. Employees no longer need to worry about whether they’ve brought their physical card with them. As long as they have their phone, they have their business card.

That’s why Giesbers encouraged employees to add their digital business cards to their Wallet straight away.

“Just like you probably use your phone to make payments. Once you add your business card to your Wallet, you can easily share it with anyone. And it’s always at your fingertips.”

Each Wallet pass contains a personal QR code. Customers or business contacts can scan it with their phone and instantly access the employee’s digital profile. This gives employees a second way to share their contact details alongside their physical Wizard Card.

From Getting Used to It to Genuine Enthusiasm

For some employees, sharing digital business cards took a little getting used to. Not because of the technology, but simply because they had followed the same routine for years: taking a paper business card out of their pocket and handing it to someone.

After the first few months, Giesbers asked employees about their experiences. The feedback was positive.

“For some people, it was quite a change. They were still used to the idea of needing something physical to hand over. But by now, everyone is on board.”

For Giesbers, the initial rollout proved to be a successful pilot. The administrative hassle of ordering business cards has been eliminated, details can be updated in-house, and employees always have their business cards at hand.

Direct Communication with Wizard Card

It’s not just the product itself that has been well received. William is equally positive about working with Wizard Card. Giesbers has successfully made the switch from paper business cards to a solution that better reflects the way the company operates today: digital, centrally managed and always within easy reach.

“Everything works very intuitively and efficiently. Communication is direct, responses are quick, and the cards look highly professional.”
